Awestruck!

It saddens and sickens me to see what this once great, caring nation has become.  I sat watching the news this morning which focused heavily on the circus that is the presidential race. Then they switched gears and talked about the attack on a university in Pakistan.  And just when I thought things couldn’t get any more depressing they decided to talk about the call for a boycott of this year’s Academy Awards.  REALLY?!?

Actors and directors are boycotting the Academy Awards because they are angered over the lack of racial diversity among the nominees; therefore they are taking to social media to call for a boycott…. There are just no words to describe how I feel about this… I am awestruck!

Of all the issues in our country and the world today, THIS is where you chose to make a stand? The fact that you are choosing to protest by not putting on a dress that costs more than some people’s annual salary and not climb into a limo that will whisk you away to one of the most glutinous events of the year is supposed to MEAN something?  Have you given that much thought?

Children are starving, homeless, without proper medical treatment or are simply abandoned by parents that cannot afford to raise them (to name just a few); and the fact that someone didn’t get nominated to receive a trophy is your biggest concern.  Wow!

What a sad commentary about our society.
